Rachel Harrington and Rod Clements at the Studio

Rachel Harrington and Rod Clements
The Studio, Hartlepool

A Pictorial Report

I first saw Rachel Harrington and Rod Clements at The Sage's 2010 Americana Festival. I was delighted to discover - from Rod himself - that they were going to come back to the North East in the near future.

My full review of the show is scheduled to appear in a well-known music magazine (details to follow), so meanwhile, here's a pictorial report of the evening.

The Studio - an interesting and intimate venue. We managed to grab a sofa right in front of the stage and enjoyed an excellent view on a very comfortable seat.

Let the evening begin! Two great musicians, over 100 minutes of terrific songs. Folk, Country, Americana...the label isn't important - the trick is just to enjoy the music.

Rachel took the lead vocals on the majority of the songs, and Rod's harmony vocals added depth to the overall sound.

The set list, featuring a combination of old and new songs, brought the best out of both artistes.

Part 1

Shoeless Joe

Stamping Ground*

Seven of the songs are Rachel's forthcoming CD, 'Celilo Falls'. Marsh Towers will return to the new CD for a full review soon.

Rod's turn on vocals.

The end of the show! But they returned quickly for the encore...

Holding the final note for as long as possible.

The final bow at the end of a very enjoyable concert. The evening wasn't over yet - Rachel had very kindly agreed to a five minute interview after the show, which turned into 25 minutes before we knew it.

There will be at least two more blog posts about Rachel over the next couple of weeks. One will be a review of her new CD and one will feature the exclusive interview we recorded at The Studio.
